License Agreement and Author Copyright
License Agreement & Author Copyright
Upon acceptance of a manuscript for publication, the copyright of the article transfers entirely to the NJAP Editorial Board. By submitting a manuscript to NJAP, authors grant the journal the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, and make the work available in all current and future formats and platforms, worldwide and in perpetuity. NJAP does not operate an author-retains-copyright model.
By submitting a manuscript and paying the submission fee, the author acknowledges agreement with NJAP's terms and conditions, which may be updated from time to time without prior notice.
Open Access and Creative Commons Licensing
In keeping with NJAP's commitment to open access, all published articles are made freely and permanently available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
Rights Granted under CC BY 4.0
Under this licence, any user anywhere in the world is free to:
- Share: Copy, download, print, and redistribute the article in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes
- Adapt: Transform, translate, or build upon the article — for example, to create a derivative work, data compilation, or extended analysis
- Use commercially: Incorporate the work into commercial products, publications, or applications
Attribution Requirement
The sole condition of the CC BY 4.0 licence is proper attribution. Users must:
- Credit the original author(s) and NJAP as the publishing journal
- Provide a working link to the CC BY 4.0 licence
- State whether any changes were made to the original material
- Not suggest, through the form of attribution, that the original authors or NJAP endorse the re-use or the user's work
Full licence terms are available at: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Recommended Attribution Format
When citing or re-using a published NJAP article, attribution should include:
- Author name(s)
- Article title
- Journal: Nigerian Journal of Applied Physics
- Volume, issue, and page range
- Year of publication
- DOI (e.g., https://doi.org/10.62292/njap-v2i1-2026-xxx)
- Licence: CC BY 4.0
Copyright Transfer and Permissions
By submitting to NJAP, authors grant the journal the non-exclusive right — worldwide and in perpetuity — to publish, distribute, and make the article available through all channels, including print, digital, databases, repositories, libraries, and abstracting and indexing services.
Third-Party Material
Authors bear sole responsibility for obtaining written permission to reproduce any third-party material included in their manuscript — including figures, tables, data, photographs, and extended textual quotations — regardless of the original publication medium. Permission documentation must:
- Be submitted alongside the manuscript through the online portal
- Clearly identify each item of third-party material covered
- Confirm that the material may be published in an open access article under CC BY 4.0
- Specify any attribution requirements imposed by the original copyright holder
Authors are responsible for any copyright infringement or other legal violations arising from their submitted work. NJAP cannot accept manuscripts containing third-party material for which appropriate permissions have not been obtained.
Moral Rights
Although copyright in the published article transfers to the NJAP Editorial Board upon acceptance, authors retain their moral rights in accordance with applicable law, specifically:
- Right of paternity: The right to be identified as the author(s) of the work in all published and derived versions
- Right of integrity: The right to object to any derogatory treatment, distortion, or modification of the work that would be prejudicial to the authors' honour or reputation
These moral rights belong to the named authors and cannot be transferred or waived.
Corrections and Retractions
Corrections
Where corrections to a published article are required:
- A correction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article
- The CC BY 4.0 licence applies to the correction as it does to the original article
- The original version of record is preserved in the journal's archive
Retractions
Where retraction of a published article is required:
- A retraction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article in all databases
- The retracted article will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted
- Retracted articles remain part of the permanent scientific record and remain citable
Authors' Agreement
By submitting a manuscript to NJAP, all authors confirm that they:
- Consent to the transfer of copyright to the NJAP Editorial Board upon acceptance
- Authorise NJAP to publish the article under CC BY 4.0
- Have obtained all necessary third-party permissions for any material included in the manuscript
- Accept that any disputes will be resolved through NJAP's established procedures
- Acknowledge that the journal reserves the right to withdraw acceptance without compensation if publication becomes legally or operationally impossible
